Unit 12 Busy Again
Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Unit 12, Halfmoon Bay, assists injured person in Davis Bay.
Wednesday, July 29, 2009. At 5:17 pm Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary - Pacific, Unit 12, Halfmoon Bay, was tasked to assist an injured person in Davis Bay. The fast response vessel, Ken Moore, with its crew arrived on the scene at the District of Sechelt swimming float at 6:00 pm.On the float was a young man with a possible spinal injury. Initial aid had been provided by two lifeguards who happened to be in the area. Emergency Health Services paramedics and RCMP had responded by land and when the Ken Moore arrived one paramedic was on the float and had the patient on a board and was administering oxygen.
The injured individual was transferred to the auxiliary boat under the direction of EHS and was transported to the beach where he was turned over to the RCMP and EHS for transport.
The Ken Moore departed the scene at 6:30 pm and returned to base and normal operations at 7:00 pm.
