Saturday, August 8, 2009. The crew of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (CCGA) fast response vessel, Ken Moore, was paged shortly before 5:00 PM.  The Unit 12 - Halfmoon Bay boat left its station in Secret Cove at 5:26 pm, tasked to assist a vessel that was taking on water at the Halfmoon Bay wharf. The nineteen foot Double Eagle, with two people aboard, had struck a rock near the south end of South Thormanby Island earlier in the day and had been assisted to the Halfmoon Bay Government Wharf by the Canadian Coast Guard vessel Cape Caution and the rigid hull inflatable, Rescue 1, both stationed at Powell River.

Unit 12 took over pumping the damaged vessel allowing the Canadian Coast Guard vessels to resume normal duties and return to base.  The Ken Moore then contacted the auxiliary unit leader, who arranged for a trailer to be placed in the water at the Cooper's Green ramp. The Ken Moore then towed the damaged vessel alongside to Cooper's Green, where it was placed on the trailer and removed from the water at 7:00 pm.

Ken Moore returned to base at 7:45 pm where she was hosed down and made ready for the next call out.
